Preparing the Notepad for Offline Access

1. Open the notepad over HTTPS while connected to the internet.
2. Open More → Storage & privacy and check the offline status.
3. Wait for Offline ready, then test by disconnecting and reopening with a temporary test note.

A first visit with no internet connection cannot load the app. Offline preparation can fail if the browser blocks service workers or storage, or if its cache is removed. A hosting sign-in screen may also require a connection before you reach the app.

Browser Compatibility and Limitations

In Chrome or Edge, look for an Install option in the address bar or browser menu. In Safari on iPhone or iPad, use Share → Add to Home Screen when available. Browser labels and support vary by version, and installation is optional.

Using Notes Without an Internet Connection

When the public files are cached, local editing, note management and file export do not need a network connection. External links and any hosting sign-in gate may need one. Test your own browser before depending on offline access during travel or an outage.

Offline Troubleshooting

If offline setup is incomplete, reconnect and reopen the site in the same browser. Check that service workers and browser storage are allowed. If the cache was removed, an online visit is needed to prepare it again.

A new version waits while older app pages are open. Save your work and keep a backup, then close all app tabs and reopen it. The app does not force a reload while you are typing. Clearing site data is not a safe shortcut for updating because it can remove local notes.

How Offline Note-Taking Works

Offline cache files and your notes are stored separately from a backup file. An installed app may use a different storage context than a browser tab, so confirm using a test note before relying on shared access. Read the backup and restore guide before switching browsers or clearing site data.
